Bernard Hopkins v Felix Trinidad
Tito was a certified Killer when he took on Hopkins for the his middleweight crown , and for the No1 spot of the mythical p4p list.
Hopkins schooled him , Tito although dangerous as fuck was primarily a left hook guy and hopkins took him apart with my fave ever performance in the ring.
The fight was a week after 9/11 in madison sqare garden so it was extra poignant .
Cassius clay v Sonny liston
My best ever Ali fight, Sonny was a massive favourite and there were fears for Ali's life , but he danced around the ring , and liston quit on his stool rather than being knocked out , and a star was Born.
Oscar De la hoya v Fernando Vargas
Oscar had mayweather senior in his corner and put on a great clinic against the shit talking tough nut vargas.
Vargas tested positive for steroids after the fight, but no matter oscar knocked him out late in the fight for my fave perfomqnce of the golden boy ...

A special mention to Froch v Bute. Bute was unbeaten in 30 matches but Froch beat him so badly he was never the same again.

Calzaghe v Lacy as someone mentioned is a great call. Unbeaten Yank who was supposed to be the next great, totally dismantled over the full distance of the fight. Calzaghe could have probably knocked him out but the Yank showed bravery to just take the punishment but it was a landslide win.

I've said my top individual performance was teh Ali v Cleveland Williams destruction...
Best three rounds of boxing you will ever see... Hagler v Hearns
Most dramatic.... Ali v Foreman
Most Brutal.... Benn v McClellan followed by Ali v Frasier (manila)... both as near to manslaughter as you will see....

I also remember watching some great McGuigan fights down the years and his sheer will to win and his utter determination to win is always something that stuck with me.

My two favourite boxers are Hagler and Sugar Ray. Both just majestic in their prime.
Most people have already named the great fights I have ever seen.
My input would be one that most people don't talk about too often. But I still believe what AJ did to come back to beat Klitschko was the stuff of legend.
He was gone, out and beaten. But he composed himself over a few rounds, got his senses and focus back and then took him out. Was like a Rocky film. Loved it. Won't ever forget that night.

The coming of Gary. I agree that Foreman would have won a rematch. But he was a 25 year old monster at his peak, and Ali was 32 and in decline. Would he have beaten a 25 year old Ali? I doubt it. Watch the first couple of rounds were Ali catches George at will, and lets him know he isn't frightened or intimidated. He could have kept that up for 15 rounds at 25, and George would have been gone long before that. A question of styles really; I rate Foreman very highly and he's always going to obliterate people like Frazier who come on to him, but the hand speed and footwork of a prime Ali would have done for him.

I have e no knowledge of any real interest in boxing. But that Eubank Watson match really piqued my interest that night. Back and forth all night.
Don't watch boxing regularly but have never seen one like it since. One of those you remember where you were type events.

Hagler, Benn & Hearns are my three favourite fighters of all time, Marvin the number one. it'd be easy picking the Hearns fight as my pick but I'll instead go for his penultimate contest against John 'The Beast' Mugabi. it was Mahler's 66th contest and followed almost a year after the Hearns fight. Mugabi went in to the Hagler fight with a perfect 25-0 record with every decision coming by KO or TKO. the fight itself maybe wasn't for the purists but for someone who loves front foot fighters, it was two warriors going to war four ten and a half rounds. for Hagler to still be fighting with that much commitment at such a late stage of his career made him my no1, but Mugabi that night proved what a brave fighter he was, standing toe to toe and trading with the toughest bloke to step in a ring. Mugabi was never the same after that night but what a contest

ali was awesome against clevland williams , but the liston 1 is the better performance (for me) for a couple of reason..
williams was litterally shot when ali fought him, he was shot in the leg six months before the fight , liston beat williams twice in his pomp.
also because of the fighter Liston was ,aand because it was for the championship it was for me a better performance...

Though the Thrilla in Manila in its way was an even more extraordinary fight Ali Foreman tops everything for me. Ali coming off the ropes and stopping Foreman is personally for me my single most memorable moment in sport. Foreman had obliterated everyone, including Frazier and Norton. Not just beaten them, but smashed and humiliated them. I watched it as a kid with nothing but fear for a man who was already my absolute hero.

I cannot to this day watch Ali come off the ropes in round 8 and stop Foreman without a wild exultation or a real lump in my throat, despite having watched it literally hundreds of times.

Remember watching Tyson/Spinks and thinking Spinks was a beaten man before the fight even started. Tyson at his best was just too fast and too strong for anyone let alone a natural light heavyweight.
